Our role

AgDevCo has partnered with Westfalia South Africa to create a farm hub that will transform Mozambique into a fruit-exporting country. A 25% equity stake was taken by AgDevCo to finance land clearance and avocado orchard planting. A loan was also committed to purchase farming equipment and for working capital purposes. AgDevCo is also playing a pivotal role in the design and implementation of the outgrower scheme.

AgDevCo has supported Westfalia with TA for the implementation of integrated pest management (IPM) trials to identify ways to sustainably phase out/replace harmful chemicals in line with the business' economic goals and international requirements.

Smart investment and support

Exporting to Europe

AgDevCo’s support has helped local farmers to be among the first Mozambican exporters to the EU market. By selling to the EU through Westfalia, farmers are earning nearly three times more than they would by selling avocados locally. Earnings from litchi exports are being invested in irrigation, which is increasing revenues further.
